If plugging it in doesn't work, its not a real FTDI. check dmesg. The
full swath of FTDIchip devices are supported in-kernel on recent
(read; 2.6.24+) systems.

Arduino uses them. Simply plug in and find your new /dev/tty(ACM|S)[0-9]+
