Dear Readers,
Virginia libertarian Karen Kwiatkowski wrote this week about a recent town
hall-ish event with local elected officials:
"[Congressman Bob Goodlatte] was asked about his support for the Patriot Act,
legislation that admittedly he and the rest of Congress never even read when
they originally passed it in late 2001. He then became upset, and left
abruptly. In that moment, it was easy to forget that our 10-term incumbent is
also a lawyer... It seems that the long-term 6th District incumbent is trying
to put some daylight between himself and the big spending, big government
establishment Republicanism that has largely been his political home for over
twenty years. He is saying more of what his constituency wants to hear, about
federal oversight, and auditing the Federal Reserve. Hes talking about less
regulatory interference, less government spending and a lot more liberty."
