I've used AoE with 10.2 and 10.3, and will with 11.0 openSUSE. I have a build service project which builds the latest aoetools and aoe kernel driver if you are interested. If you have the $, I'd really look at starting with a Coraid product offering. Otherwise, I haven't any experience with 10Gig, only 1Gig. ;-) Good NICs are an absolute MUST.
