point taken, but still - going unicode is the right thing, although unicode
has multiple encodings. i would not move today to e.g. iso-8859-1 (as the
Oracle support seem to suggest, since iso-8859 predates the introduction
of the Euro and therefore does not contain the euro symbol) unless
there are really good reasons for this.
