When the original GS was introduced, the battery was touted as a 20 year
life-span rechargeable battery. Oops - some were better than others. I
recently picked up a brand new ROM 01 GS from a local Apple dealer and the
battery charged right up and appears to work fine, ie it keeps the settings
when not plugged in for weeks at a time.

Amazing - thats the 4th brand new system I've found. It blows my mind.
