You can use the service absolutely for free as long as you don't exceed 10 hours per month. There is a very nominal setup fee of $4.95. You can't just send them a check. You have to give them your credit card number. It has many access numbers distributed throughout many areas of the US. I know I will find this alternative ISP quite useful to me whenever I travel outside of my home area. I really hate having to dial up my ISP via long-distance. So far I am finding the connections at Access-4-Free.com very reliable and dependable. You have to use LSppp or some other packet driver that supports dynamic DNS addressing to connect. EPPPD will not work because the DNS's used are not always the same, even if you always use the same dialup access number. The DNS's are assigned by the server. Dynamic DNS addressing is not the same as dynamic IP assignment, which is something that EPPPD supports. BTW, Access-4-Free.com used to also have a very fine web-based email service up until just a few hours ago. Unfortunately they have just within the last few hours polluted this resourse by infesting it with JavaScript. I have just written to tech support to request them to please restore the service to the way it was. It used to work just beautifully with Arachne.
