Have you tried to play or record with it? You can use aplay -D hw:1 filename.wav to test it if it's card 1. The easiest is if the usb card is the only sound card. Then you can try any audio program. The midi should also be recognised, and you can test it with Jack and Rosegarden. If you don't know how to use these programs, it's absolutely worth while to check it out.
