Seems like it doesn't work on Windows at all so I reverted the changes while I debug that. I agree that the menus should stay open on switching.

Where the page is in the menu structure. But the navigation menu not
folding up would be better.

Do you want a breadcrumb trail that shows where you have been, or
where the page is in the menu structure? The former would be quite
hard I think.

With Chrome on Windows 7, the very first time that I visited the site,
the navigation was functional but very ugly. Then that fixed itself
and has been fine since.

One thing I don't like is that the navigation menu folds back up when
I click a link in a sub-section. That and the lack of a breadcrumb
trail can leave me feeling a bit lost.

Hi - I made a change to the navigation panel on the Aries site - it doesn't
have hover-over menus any more, you need to click on the section titles to
make the sub-sections expand. I prefer this and I think it *should* work in
most browsers because it's very simple java script. I'm on FF 3.6.13 on a
Mac and it looks good, let me know if it doesn't work on anything else.
