Theres a saying that AR's songs gradually grows in you, the simple reason is that the way the sound and music is carefully done. This creates an interest to the listening once more n once more. So when somebody says that they dont like the AR songs initially they might not be aware that they actually does because why would they listen once again. a typical example that happened to me recently I was listening to Varanam Ayiram I fear never in my life I would wish to listen once again. a similar feeling happens when I listen to Vishal Bharadwaj songs and SEL as it happens while I listen to AR's.
