I have/had a lot of respect for Jagjit Singh as well. But seems like he does have some attitude problems. Earlier (I think a year or two before) he wanted Pakistani singers to not to visit India. He definitely did not make right comments specially by accusing Rahman of taking western compositions.
Rahman has composed a few ghazals but we dont see many because music of movie is purely situational. Most of today's movies dont demand ghazals, hence you dont see it there.
