guys! great enthusiasm but save this -- there will be a lot to do if we go ahead with this! i'm discussing an initial draft of the petition.
but before that ... let's call this the "scratching-the-surface" phase. if you can find all the useful information there is about Connections and use all your contacts to do so - here are some of the questions that we don't have an answer to: - who owns the rights to all the tracks of Connections? Universal (likely)? Nokia (nah!)? ARR (possible)? - is a full 'Connections' release being planned soon in the future? (if so, then our efforts are not required) - does ARR intend to keep these for another purpose? future use? (then we drop this effort - just out of respect for our the boss) - are there any small(er) labels (like Phat Phish) who are willing to back a non-mainstream release like Connections. my hunch is Universal won't be interested because of class (vs mass) appeal of the tracks. someone who's in this field / has 'connections' in the music industry / ad industry should be able to help us. - can we ensure WE will be able to generate not just enthusiasm but commercial interest (real record sales) for some record label (small or big) to take this up? how? this album does not have to sell as many copies as a regular Bollywood soundtrack, but at least as much for a company to be interested in this. - are we interested ONLY in a CD release or is a legal hi-quality MP3 release good to start with? if legal MP3s are we're seeking - the initial cost-barriers are very low. - does anyone know anyone who's in a position to influence this positively? (this can be figured out along the way) ... are there any more questions to add here? we target 5000 honest-real-non-multiple votes. validation of this will be -- each vote must translate into at least one sale of the album, if it's released. if we don't get to that figure, we drop this effort - and declare ourselves to be an elite-exclusive-music-club who's musical tastes are, unfortunately, not shared by the everyone (just kidding but who knows) [:)] ;-) --- In arrahmanfans@yahoogroups.com, vinu thiagu <vinuthi...@...> wrote: > > count me in ..guys............. > > --- On Fri, 11/9/09, nivensamy niven...@... wrote: > > From: nivensamy niven...@... > Subject: [arr] Re: Connections Album the earlier one > To: arrahmanfans@yahoogroups.com > Date: Friday, 11 September, 2009, 10:18 AM > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Count me on board. The tracks are not commercially flavoured but they make a great collection for someone who is into such music. And such music deserves CD quality reproduction. All fans i am sure have a copy of it either through the phone or some download site. It is very sad such a great set of tracks are restricted to few phone models. Very sad. > > > > > > > > > > > > I am wondering what name will suit, because connections is taken for a compliation album! > > > > > > > > > > > > regards > > > > > > > > > > > > wb > > > > > > > > > > > > Remixes I Originals I Opinions at http://www.wiredbea ts.com > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Love Cricket?
