Hi,

If you disable the outgoing mailbox(es) and then restart the Email Engine
(restart Service or kill the email daemon process), it should not send any
emails.

Best Regards - Misi, RRR AB, http://www.rrr.se

maybe I was not clear enough.
The problem is that I don't want my email engine to be stopped.
I'd like to get incoming emails. Therefore I would also like not to
disable sendmail.
What I would like is not sending outgoing emails.
That was working fine for months. The email engine was running and only
the Outgoing emails was disabled.
I was getting incoming emails and nothing was sent out.

The other day I noticed that the email engine was down.
I started it while the Outgoing was still disabled. I could check this
through the User tool.
However people got emails from my platform.
So my question is how can this be ?
Is anybody aware of such problem with the email engine ?
Has anybody experience such a curiosity ?
Is there soemthing else to check in some config file ?

Thansk for your feedback anyway.

Yes, an arsystem stop followed by an arsystem start should stop the
email engine if it is truly disabled. You don't need to stop
workflow, if the email engine is truly disabled.

If you have access to a terminal or SSH session you can check if the
engine is indeed down on a UNIX system. Just run ps -ef, pipe it (|)
to a grep session looking for email and if you get no return then it
is down. If you do get a answer back, that means that the process is
running and needs to be stopped. If you are not a system admin, then
get one to help you. If you are, you know what to do to stop it.

I find that sometimes the admin tool will tell you one thing and your
system another...

arsystem stop/start should fix this. No need to disable wf, correct me
if I'm wrong ...

       Serouche:

You have to disable the workflow for the e-mail engine or it
will definitely send out mail.

You did not state which platform you are on, but I know of
another method, under UNIX that will also stop mail from being sent
and that is to disable or stop the sendmail process.

yes listers indeed that's exacty what happen !
       And I don't believe in ghosts !

Yesterday I started the email engine with
/opt/AREmail/emaild.sh start& I got dozen of calls minutes later
because this email engine was sending out emails.

But when I had a look into the arusertool at AR System Email
Mailbox Configuration for the Outgoing entry I could see it is disabled.

So could anyone give a help/idea/information/suggestion on how
this could had happend ?

ars server and email engine 6.00.01 patch 1454 SunOS 5.9 on
