My understanding is that the license key and the host id is store on the DB. If you are upgrading, whether or not you are upgrading on the same host server or different, the store DB value will be taken over(updated) with newest value of the MAC at the moment you launch the server license form. The you must add the new license key to pair with the new Host ID, or it will be recognized by the source code (internal program) that's a invalid license key.
