You could accomplish this with an active link with the following properties:

J Correct me if I am wrong: There is no way to set defaults for CERTAIN FIELDS ONLY in SEARCH mode. Tools -> Options->Behavior in User Tool will make is so that defaults displayed for ALL forms in SEARCH mode on per user basis.
