My issues is that as I am building a solution I may add the same objects several times to my master DEF file. From what I can tell, the admin tool imports each of those objects in the DEF file regardless of how may times it appears. I find that this can slow down the import and even cause adverse effects in situations where you are adding or deleting fields from a form.
I found you can open a DEF file in Migrator but you cannot export those objects back to a DEF file - we do not have a migrator license.
