No worries. Thank you much for helping. I've logged a ticket with my SAs to restart rpcbind. I have found an error on 390600 trying to bind to rpc, even though I see other arserverd processes bound to rpc. I think that's the ultimate cause of my woes...

As you said, if you can see the process listed in the rcpinfo listing, then it's probably running. I haven't dealt with portmapper on Solaris and don't have a Solaris box to look at, so I'm not sure I will be much more help on this. Sorry. It sounds like it's trying to register itself with the portmapper but can't. Do you have the portmapper service running? I've seen similar errors when the plugins aren't properly initialized (although I understand you don't see any errors in the logs).
