Sandra, KM searches are exclusively done via the FTS engine. So, you'll need to make sure you are indexing and using Full Text Search and make sure that what you have already indexed is not corrupt. There are a few posts here that speak to the corruption and how to "multi thread" the full text search indexing and searching.
