Bay of Pigs?

China?

Sounds like someone's selling some freshly picked cherries!

Left out Bay of Pigs because that one is still highly debated: It was
planned by the CIA and agreed to by Eisenhower in early 1960. When it failed
three
months into JFK's administration, he admirably took full responsibility for
it (unlike some who followed in that office). Another CIA screw-up. But JFK
was a fast learner, and never again relied on advice coming from one corner.

China was good. 72-74 bad judgment was the Watergate cover-up.

Fresh picked cherries (and lots of old rotten ones) are the stuff of your
columns.
No one can match your bag of rhetorical tricks.
There you have lots of experience.
