All valid points. As a visitor, my ability is limited. The lot on Kingsley is
referred to by The City as "the staging area." I have personally approached
(several times) the mayor and the deputy mayor with regard to that lot. I was
told that the lot would be cleaned up.

It is my understanding that, historically, that lot had always been parking.
It is quite possible that it is zoned for exactly that. Zoning is a matter of
public record. Again, my ability is limited as I primarily visit on the
weekends. Would one or more of you be willing to visit the code enforcement
office at 1 Municipal plaza to obtain the zoning records for that lot as well
as the Esperanza lot?

While you are at it, it might also be interesting to see what code violations
have been issued to those properties (also public record.)

Code enforcement seems to have no problem issuing violations for cracked
sidewalks outside of your residences, sandwich boards outside of your
restaurants, etc. (Look at Werner!) It is reasonable to believe that there
*SHOULD* be violations on these properties. Amongst many things, broken
fencing, damaged and non-existent sidewalks come to mind.

Knowledge is power. If a concerted effort is to go fourth on rectifying these
abominations, the facts must be known. For this effort to succeed, one or more
of you need to do some data collection. Then follow up at a council meeting
and by making formal complaints to code enforcement.

I did, as I suggested, make a telephone call to code enforcement regarding the
"staging area". I received voice mail. Since I believe that Mr. Grey is still
out on a paid leave while he defends his "conduct unbecoming" charge, I will
also send a written complaint to "Asbury Park City Hall, One Municipal Plaza,
Asbury Park, NJ 07712, ATTN: Code Enforcement." I urge you to do the same.

I have been following up with the City Council for many months now on that
staging area, a little backup would be nice.

Jack is correct, nothing will be accomplished by complaining to ourselves.

(off soap box.)
