One measure we, (as the potential victims) can take is to make sure we write down the bikes serial numbers
I have all of my bikes serial numbers along with corresponding pictures of them as well I would never leave a bike locked up outside of a fence on your property, 2 of ours were locked up to our deck prior to having our fence put up, we came home to find a cut lock and no bikes The police keep great records of bikes reported stolen, and its a THICK book The one thing I will say, is if you see a kid riding your stolen bike, they will give it back quickly if you approach them Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry -----Original Message----- From: "Hinge" <hing...@yahoo.com> Sender: AsburyPark@yahoogroups.com Date: Fri, 10 Jun 2011 14:17:25 To: <AsburyPark@yahoogroups.com> Reply-To: AsburyPark@yahoogroups.com Subject: [AsburyPark] Re: Asbury Park bicycle thieves Yeah, I had parts stolen off my bike a few years ago. Last night, a neighbor of mine who constantly makes the mistake of locking her bike to a telephone pole also had her front wheel stolen, and it's her only transportation. What can be done about this? Obviously parents aren't wondering where their kids are getting all of their bikes and bike parts. Maybe the city should require everybody to register their bikes, just like they do with dog licenses. If a kid is caught riding a bike without a sticker, impound it. If it's found to be stolen, arrest the little shit heads. --- In AsburyPark@yahoogroups.com, cbrianwatkins@... wrote: > > Huge problem right now?
