It won't hurt. You might want to stage a "vigil" of sorts, like a "watch" evening. Secure everything you can and just stage a watch night with cell phone for 911, flashlights with a large beam; things like that. I don't encourage gun use, but in your situation, I wouldn't blame you for having one. The security signs aren't a bad idea either. What about the community watch group that rides around in an old police vehicle?
