I have been a silent spectator of the unfolding of this undertaking.

Ranjit Baruah asks the key question here: " What is the agenda and
expectations from us ??"

I was hoping to hear something about this before I considered
participation. Not hearing anything thus far, I did not even think of the
matter. I noticed how Jugal conveyed some of our questions and made some
good suggestions. However there was no response back on any of the points
that I know of. It is possible I missed it--but unlikely. Nothing new
however. I have encountered the problem time and again. Somehow our
compatriots prefer to ignore specific questions, even though it is hard to
fathom why.

Now the sudden re-scheduling, albeit with good intentions--of synchronizing
it with Magh Bihu, discloses a degree of 'arbitrariness', if not outright
mismanagement. Those in the USA or Canada who planned to attend in December
must already have purchased tickets by now, and I can imagine their
disapponitment, even resentment.

I agree that not everyone's conveniences could be accomodated. It is the
nature of the beast. But if something has been either agreed upon or even
given, and is suddenly changed, it is bound to cause problems. We can
appreciate that the organizers may be unfamiliar with such issues as are
faced by those of us in USA, Canada, Europe etc--who need to make
arrangements accomodatinbg many conflicting requirements. But that is PART
of the MANAGEMENT of the process of communicating.

In conclusion, one would hope the event could be a productive one, provided
clear goals are set, based on realism and the affair managed with
professional zeal and skills.

I wish it the best.
