I always maintain that secularism has,in Indian context,been only a vote-catching mechanism for politicians--the Congress and the likes of Mulayam Yadav/Laloo Yadav et al.But this piece is not about political parties and secularism.This one is about Vinod Pandey,the creator of the film " Sins".The "secularists" in the printing media charged him for being a proxy of the "saffron brigade".Why? Because the story of the film centers around one bad priest,showing his licentious character.The Christians were out in the street to register their protest in vehemence as result of which,the film was banned in J&K.And the Minorities Commission,ever ready to jump on a " secular" bandwagon, had leapt into the act by demanding an explanation from the Censor Board.After googling for five minutes,it was crystal clear to me that Mr Pandey,in fact,is a card-carrying secularist.The same man previously denounced Hindu priests and "mutts' in a television series called Reporter an!
