Folks... you are missing a whole LOT of important points here, any
DNS bench should not just take care of hops and all that stuff, there
MUCH more parameters to be tested; and if you have a decent pipe
then YOUR own, local resolvers will be, in most cases (assuming you
know how to setup and tune them) FASTER than any other external
resolver, so, imHo this is a NO BRAINED discussion; more, when it
comes to DNS and EMAIL, it's usually a good idea to have local copies
of "blacklist" zones (e.g. running your own resolver along with your own
copy of rbldnsd) to minimize bandwidth usage and maximize performance,
then, if we want to carry on some hairdresser discussions and talk about
benchmarks, useful to the "average joe" to tune up his P2P home ADSL
we may go on with this discussion, but other than that, it's fried air !

Now, to go back ON topic, have a look at http://unbound.net/ it runs on
multiple platforms, the performance is right and it's quite ok in case you
need a local resolver
