as rvillarreal pointed out, the apt system has most of the required Perl 
modules, CPAN should only be a secondary source, your distros software 
repository is preferred.

Thats a crash, the console would show you the exact reason. It's Beta 
software so this IS expected.

So how is that an ASSP issue? Exchange thinks the user is local and 
therefore never bothers to send it to ASSP, you need to use a "non 
exchange local" domain for the email interface.

I've used Xubuntu with x installed but not set to autostart(disabled 
GDM), being able to manage it from a keyboard and monitor is nice for 
testing.

The Exchange setups are actually pretty well documented, they are just 
not hand holding based. You have to understand how to administrate 
Exchange first.
