Having experienced this one already, I would have to say it's far more
than that. This is a complete installation of Asterisk, culminating in a
working dial plan (albeit a simple one). This is perfect for Asterisk
newbies, and has already been proven successful.

Let's call this an Asterisk installfest, and give it the credit it
deserves!

This one needs to be stated as only applicable for people with a fair
amount of Asterisk knowhow. The challenge will be in finding a balance -
too technical, and the newbs won't understand it; too simple, and the
technical folks will fall asleep. Although we don't what to get into
certification or snobbery or such, a set of pre-requisites should be
defined (extensive Linux and programming knowledge; at least three
months of Asterisk experience, etc). Not to say that those who don't
meet them aren't invited, but more that this is the level the talk will
be presented at, so don't be upset if you don't understand.

This is cool, and dead-simple once you get the hang of it.

Yuck! (although I agree that it is relevant and interesting)
