This sentence:
"Asterisk is a "software PBX", a very sophisticated piece of software that
runs on a PC and implements all of the functions of a conventional telephone
system."

Might read better as follows:
"Asterisk is a sophisticated software PBX which will run on any Linux system
(as well as a few non-Linux systems) that not only delivers all of the
functions of typical business telephone systems, but also features and
capabilities that closed, proprietary systems cannot even dare to dream of."

And get rid of the scare quotes.
