Jim: Thanks for your compliments. Much appreciated! Chad: Hats off to you too, for contacting 911 dispatch communications for the 905.
The scoop with Dispatch Centres: The 911 dispatch centres are literally a battery of offices located within the jurisdictions or neighbouring jurisdictions of the area code. Sometimes case loads are transferred to partnering offices if the loads are too much to handle. Reason for this is to stream line and respond to 911 calls as quickly and effectively as possible. The only consideration we need to be aware of and acknowledge is to do testing in their least busy time - so that those emergency calls can pass through and also to be considerate to those real callers. After all, the calls in many cases are literally a matter of life and death! Keeping this in mind, we should try to schedule tests during the least busy time. It appears the 911 dudes of the 905 area code have a less case load than the 416 area. I am actually quite surprised all one needs to do is call the 905 supervisor on duty to coordinate this without any formal requests. Actually I shouldn't be surprised because 416 is the heaviest sector across Canada receiving the most number of calls - so I think they (905 dudes) are happy to accommodate. Cheers!
