Thanks Dave, I am looking again at the Rocket Hub in this case. 15GB should be enough (not sure why they have different data plans than the other 3G services) and the discounted (I can't believe I just said that) rate for extra GB is better than the stick.
This would also be very cool if you can get a 416 phone number on Hub, but live outside the area. I'm guessing they are trying to boost the price of 3G data so they can launch their LTE service at a lower cost. At least, that's what I hope. Chuck. I bought a Rockethub recently for a rural office and both the label on the SIM and the sales rep I bought from warned me that the SIM was restricted to Rockethubs. The rep said that the $150 for 15GB plan was only available on rocket hubs. Having said that, it has been a really nice device so far. There is absolutely no config. You can't run a server on it because it doesn't give your client a public IP (just a 192.168.x.x) and there's no interface I'm aware of to configure NAT or any other router settings. I'll say that I didn't look to hard though. In my case it just worked out of the box. With 1-2 bars of signal I think we tested it consistently at 3Mbps down and about 600 up. It has an external antenna connector on it so you might even be able to boost it if you're in a less than ideal location. It seemed like a very robust device to me. It beats having to install that Rogers connection manager too. To Nabeel's point about rep's product knowledge, I've had reps on the phone who either accidentally or generously gave me plans that were obviously retention oriented because the pricing was way more aggressive than normal. It's quite possible that if you call a few times, you'll get a rep who will give you the $150 plan on your Rocket Stick. That's my two cents. Hope you find a good solution.
