Excellent choice with both m0n0wall and AstLinux. I use that here and
particularly like the traffic shaping features and the captive portal on
the m0n0wall. Just beware that if you use the captive portal for a WiFi
node you'll have to use NAT to talk to the VoIP clients connected
through it. The portal will not allow connections from the LAN to the
WiFi and so you'll only get one way audio.

Setup here is a 3 port WRAP for the m0n0wall with one port connected to
the WAN, one to the LAN and one to the WiFi. The WiFi is a WRT54G V6
running DD-WRT and the Astlinux is running in a NET4801.

Yes you can send your CDR data to an SQL server. You'll need to pratty
about with the cdr_blah.conf files. However, AstLinux comes
"pre-configured" to use a CSV type filing method which is actually very
usefull and probably way more than enough for a small office setup. It
even has it's own web front end to interogate the records.

You might do well to run V0.3.0 rather than the latest 0.4.2. Granted,
the latest version has the IAX2 DoS issue fixed but it also has a broken
VM to email facility which may be a selling point to your client. The
DoS attacks can be minimized by some clever firewall rules or even
running the IAX link over a VPN (as happens here).

Don't forget that you can purchase AstLinux domed labels to give your
product that extra look of professionalism too.

Good luck with your project!
