Leif, I have never had any problem using 19200 8N1 on my net4801's.
1) Do you have a long RS-232 cable that is maybe picking up noise at 19200 speed? 2) What is your TTY terminal software and computer? Maybe the mismatch is there. I use a super-old Mac PowerBook with VersaTerm terminal software.
