Sandisk is known to work well. Some others are known to cause problems.
For your OS compact flash you are better off with a small disk (128MB is probably the smallest that is readily accessible). To upgrade, swap CF cards. You can use the 2GB CF card for the key disk. That way your key disk data is retained between upgrades.
