For Those Interested
I have managed to get the TDM card on it's own interrupts
cat /proc/interrupts

2: 0 XT-PIC cascade

I have updated Linux to
uname -r
2.6.17-gentoo-r8
I have rebuild Asterisk using
Asterisk-1.2.12.1 zaptel-1.2.8
I also built zaptel with
make clean ; make linux26 ; make install
I have learned about ztmonitor command and tried playing with the rxgain
and txgain
Overall, Some good improvements.
Still not great.
(1) I get a very bad static HISSS that comes and goes at random. I'm
pritty sure this is from the Sprint / Telco line
It is random and can last a short time or a long time, and is very loud
that it drowns out anybody talking.
(2) The Volume is louder and slightly cleared
(3) The Tone still sounds very "tin can" sounding like it has the HIGHs
turned up or LOWs turned down (for those who understand music mixing)
Going to have Sprint look at the line (not sure what to ask or what to
check but hey it's worth it)
I'm still waiting for my Clipcomm CG 410 FXO gateway to arrive and
Net4801 and Soekris boxes.
I have d/led AstLinux for Net4801 and burnt the CF which is on my desk.
(But with no boxes it's doing nothing)
Thanks for all you help
Yours
Barry
