Barry,

        If you are using gentoo these aren't really AstLinux issues, but...

        Your wctdm board is sharing interrupts with your USB controller.  That 
is typical for standard PCs.  It's also very bad.  Try to disable as 
many on board components as possible - serial ports, parallel ports, 
sound, USB, etc.  Try to get wctdm on its own interrupt.

        Also, 2.6.10 is pretty old.  You could try upgrading that and 
rebuilding zaptel, also from the latest sources.
