Jonathan, The asturw is a partition. You can put it on the CF or on the same device as your key disk. In either case, it must be it's own partition. The genunion script is pretty basic and simply creates a file system on a partition you specify with a file system label of ASTURW. You do not need to use genunion to create the file system. It's there to make the process easier. The label is not used currently, but we might use it in the future to allow cmdline options of 'astkd=auto' and 'asturw=auto'.
