Steve,

I would prefer to upgrade to Asterisk 1.6 after the kernel bump is 
complete.  That's going to be invasive enough as it is.  Alternatively, 
we could do Asterisk 1.6 in the asterisk-beta branch instead.  We really 
could use a few more developers...
