Darrick,

I agree that the kernel bump is probably much more important. I imagine
there would probably be a bigger set of tweaks needed when upgrading to
Asterisk 1.6 anyway (didn't they deprecate some things like macros, and
you can't use '|' anymore?)

By the way, I would love to help out...
I am a developer/architect by profession (mostly web-based
applications), and can figure out how to write a for loop in any
language. ;)

I have recently ventured into the Linux VOIP world, and have been
learning a lot (and loving *almost* every minute of it). Of all the
Asterisk distros, I definitely like the direction of AstLinux the most.
(Askozia is nice too, but too restrictive). I really did't like the
'heavy' distros like TrixBox or even PBX in a Flash as they all seem to
be too bloated. I have a vested interest in AstLinux at this point, as
I have recommended and started setting it up at my place of employment.
We are currently running a proof-of-concept server for MeetMe
conferencing needs (used daily for communication with remote team
members) as well as some really long IVR applications (30-40 minute
calls) that will need to stay in constant communication with our
application/database servers to track and record responses. So far
(with a few minor additions) AstLinux seems to be working very nicely.

So... where do you need help?

-Steve
