Robin,

Option (1) is the only possibly solution, compiling the latest tg3 driver in 
the AstLinux build system.

The tg3 NIC does not seem to be very common in embedded boxes, the top three 
NIC drivers are e1000, e1000e, and r8168 which we already compile the latest 
drivers.

However, I'll look into compiling the tg3 NIC from source since clearly the 
current tg3 version has lots of issues.

We'll let you know if this works.
