btcoex mode is just a way to prioritise whether BT or WLAN operation is occuring.
It's right now "static" in ath9k. The dynamic bluetooth parameter tweaking in the MAC isn't being done. So it's not "works" or "not works." It's "who knows." There's no reason it won't work.
