Darla,
It sounds as though there is something running in the background
that is taking away from your system resources causing Jaws to stutter. If
you know how you could go to your startup and uncheck items that are running
to see if you can eliminate the problem.

Oh no; I downloaded autoruns ***after** the problem happened to see
if I could locate a running program or process that didn't need to be
running.
In fact, I haven't installed anything lately; this problem appears
to have just cropped up somehow; if you think it would help, however, I can
"Delete" this program, but I'd need to get it out of the registry, wouldn't
I? I can check to see if I can remove it from add/remove programs.

Yes, but it is still installed on your system. Since your problem didn't
start until after you installed it, that would be the first place I would
look.

Uninstall the auto run and see if you still have the problem with Jaws.

Hi Everyone,
I had to shut down the computer yesterday; it took forever
for it to come up and now the voice stutters (almost like something is
running in the background that shouldn't be).
I downloaded a program called "autoruns," which presented me
with a daunting list of things that run at start-up, so I have no idea how
to make heads or tails of it; I also shut down JAWS and brought it back up,
and this seems not to have worked either.
I am using a Dell Latitude running Windows 7 (latest
update).
