You mean the program I installed to tell me what all is running?  It doesn't
run, unless I ask it to run.

Uninstall the auto run and see if you still have the problem with Jaws.

Hi Everyone,

                I had to shut down the computer yesterday; it took forever
for it to come up and now the voice stutters (almost like something is
running in the background that shouldn't be).

                I downloaded a program called "autoruns," which presented me
with a daunting list of things that run at start-up, so I have no idea how
to make heads or tails of it; I also shut down JAWS and brought it back up,
and this seems not to have worked either.

                I am using a Dell Latitude running Windows 7 (latest
update).
