Actually John they normally do ask if you need an ADA room. I am sure some
people who did not need them took them even when asked because lets face it a
lot of people just want to check in and be done with it. The sad fact is all
hotels have a limited number of ADA rooms and with our population aging at some
point we are going to find it hard to get a hotel with enough ADA rooms. One
of the largest hotels in Las Vegas with over 3000 rooms had less than 65 ADA
rooms. This is a lot compared to most large hotels. Many have fewer than 10
such rooms. Grab bars in all the rooms would be way to costly for most hotels
and believe me in the end the cost would be passed on to you. As John said it
would not matter about the grab bars anyway since most hotel bathrooms are too
small for a wheelchair or walker. I cant say I would blame anyone who waited
all day for a room if they took an ADA room at some point. Now one other thing
they really could have done for those without ADA rooms was offer a room at
their sister hotel since it was nearby but frankly I doubt anyone would have
gone for that. Robyn
Never underestimate yourself. You are a special person and there is no one
quite like you.
