What kind of service do you have? Does it take a long time to download or is it more a matter of convenience for you?

I turn it off because when it dows an update I find it difficult to use my computer until the update is finished. It does an update 3 or 4 times a day and it gets to be aggravaitng waiting for it to finish especially when you are trying to do something on your PC. This might not happen to everybody b ut it does on mine.

Carl,

Yes, you could use Vipre exclusively. I also use Malwarebytes in addition to Vipre but it's probably not necessary. I also turn off the automatic updates for Vipre and update the definitions manually once a week or so.

would this do away with the protection offered through Mediacom which I currently use now and I'm suspecting it is causing a problem with my Window eyes? could I get rid of it and use Vipre exclusively?
