I was talking to Matt Mullenweg yesterday and he remarked that he didn't
think WordPress could realistically support APP as it stands now,
because WP is commonly used by people on low-rent hosting providers and
quite a few of those don't support the use of PUT and DELETE.
I think this is a problem.
Yes, it is is a problem.
Is the WG prepared to think seriously about a Pace to allow replacing
and deleting entries via POST?
This is, IMO, the wrong solution. Sometimes one has to force the hand of
low-rent hosting providers and other entities holding back the Web.
DELETE is part of the HTTP architecture and providers that don't support
are broken. We should endeavor to get them to support it, and endeavor
to convince users of providers that won't support it to switch providers
until they do.
This is about a thousand times easier than upgrading everyone's web
browsers to support CSS and XHTML; and yet that is a worthy endeavor.
There's no reason not to demand support for full HTTP.
