It was suggested ages ago that the use of a different URI in <id> than
the one which would usually provide representations of the entry
resource might be problematic.

There's an extra level of indirection between the identified entry
resource and it's representations (which are in fact also
representations of *other* resources). There doesn't seem to be any
violation of webarch with that per se. But if we decide Cool URIs are
to be considered an exception rather than the norm and use workarounds
to fit with the half-baked 'permalink' practice then confusion is to
be expected.
