Well, things don't just appear, do they:
If it arrived over HTTP: You should know, you requested it. From a server with whois information and port 25 and a front page and a million other things.
If it arrived over email: The from address.
If you found it on a local disk: Somebody put it there.


There's no guarantee that alternate points anywhere useful. If you want to write up a proposal suggesting a required, verified troubleshooting contact, please do, but don't use it to justify something unrelated.
