Re: When is a business to big? FS in another Merger?
Reviewing the article further, I ran across this:
Both companies were recently acquired by Vector Capital, a San Francisco based firm that invests in market leading global technology companies.
“We are excited to bring together two of the industry’s leading companies to create a global, diversified end-to-end technology provider to the low-vision and blind community,” said Andy Fishman, a Managing Director at Vector Capital.
So the question becomes, was merging with Optelec even Freedom Scientific's idea to begin with?
Ironcross32, that's interesting. In 2000 I still had 20/60 vision so products from companies like Freedom Scientific weren't in my radar yet.
20/60 vision is just marginally vision impaired. I could read printed material with no problem and ride a bike safely, I just couldn't drive a car because you have to have 20/40 or better vision to get a driver's license.
