Re: UltraPower: new version!
You know what?
There needs to be no arguing here. Let's square this nice and straight.
Mason, did you have any written legal documents or licensing that made Ultra Power lawfully yours? If you don't have that, technically a court of law wouldn't have to hear your case, and nothing proves it's yours. You "killed" the project yesterday. You gave up development, and since others had the code and you had no legal proof, someone decided to make it their own. Did you not like this end result? Well, that's the same way people feel when you just decide you want to kill a project out of the blue without warning, for reasons of unknown, booting developers and giving them the cold shoulder along the way, and leaving behind a distinct trail of code versions. Unfortunately, when you act like that, stuff like this happens, and since you kicked yourself out of the project and had no legal bindings to it it's unfortunately no longer
your right to "give permission" to anyone regarding it.
If you didn't get much out of what I just said, leave with these lessons:
1. If you're going to boot out developers and fight with them childishly, do not share your source code with them in the first place.
2. If you do not want your work "stolen", acquire some form of legal documentation stating it is yours and no one else has rights to it.
3. If you would like to collaborate with developers on a project, it is best to keep a level head while doing so. In other words, you really have no right what soever to kick developers out at your own discretion, as by that point they will have likely put in nearly as much if not more work than you.
4. Since Colton Hill was a contributing developer, and again you had no legal rights to Ultra Power, and you discontinued your work on it, you technically can't stop him from developing it. And with that, you can
039;t stop him from choosing people to work with him, because you obviously have no desire to.
5. Since it's no longer your project, it doesn't have to be deleted just because "that's all you ask"
I'm not saying don't kill Ultra Power, I don't care honestly what you all decide, and I likely won't be posting back here. I'm just trying to maybe make some sense of all of this
