Re: Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty Sidescrolling Platformer
I could, I actually have been intending to record a full run-through of the game, however my job leaves me little time for such things these days. Annoy me on twitter sometime (object_inspace) and I'll be happy to stream the game for you on twitch (also object_inspace); that way I can show you what's going on with the specific area that's driving you mad.
You don't need to find a way to play--just play! I promise, it's doable; I have beaten the game on the PS3 and PC on hard mode rescuing all 299 mudokkons, and I did it with the screen off! I'm not alone, either; I believe there is another playthrough on youtube of someone blind completing the game, although I haven't watched or looked for such. It's certainly not easy, there are a number of sound glitches (particularly in regards to floating mines disappearing), it requires you to get a "mental map" of the areas you're in and there are some incredibly frustrating sectio ns such as where you ride Elum across several bottomless pits and land mines. However, I assure you, it's quite the achievable goal, and it's a very fun game--for me at least!
Edit--I forgot to add a really useful tip this morning: when you walk and come up against the end of a ledge, Abe will stumble and cry out, to let you know you are about to drop down. There are a ton of subtle sound cues like this that will help you figure out what's going on; the difference between Abe hitting the ground and Abe grabbing onto a ledge, for example.
Finally--for those of you who have no idea what any of this is about, have a demo!I recorded this several months ago, just as a quick way to show off the game, and it's the only one I've got at the moment. (I'm going to make a video at some point to show off an alternate way to solve Zulag 4, but that's the penultimate level) Enjoy!< /p>
