Re: turning off laptop screen?

As I said in my previous message, I use the closed lid method when I'm at home and the laptop is connected to its port replicator. The nice thing about the method is that when ever you need a screen for a sighted assistant, all you have to do is open the lid.

The one gotcha the closed lid method has is you can't use it when you are mobile. For that I usually just ignore the display. If battery life becomes an issue, I use the blue Fn + F8 method to switch to an external monitor. Now if only I had a utility that would speak the current setting of the monitor switch.
